Accessing Medicare Rebates for your Psychology Sessions

Your mental health treatment plan will have goals agreed by you and your doctor. It’ll also have:

  • treatment options

  • support services available.

Keep in mind your health information and treatment plan will be private. Doctors can’t share your information unless you agree to it.

Help with costs

A mental health treatment plan lets you claim up to 20 sessions with a mental health professional each calendar year.

To start with, your doctor or psychiatrist will refer you for up to 6 sessions at a time. If you need more, they can refer you for further sessions.

Your Journey Therapy is a registered provider with Medicare however we are NOT a bulk billing service. With your Mental Health Care Plan, you will be eligible for a Medicare Rebate of $89.65. Medicare rebates will be processed by Your Journey Therapy after the session at the time of payment.

Helping Children with Autism

Assessment services

This item allows eligible allied health professionals, including Speech Pathologists and Occupational Therapists to provide up to four sessions of assessment to assist the referring medical practitioner in making a formal diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder for children under the age of 13 years. These sessions must be approved for use in writing by a Paediatrician or Psychiatrist.

Therapy services

This item allows eligible allied health professionals, including Speech Pathologists and Occupational Therapists, to provide up to 20 sessions of early intervention treatment to a child diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder. These sessions must be approved for use in writing by a Paediatrician. To be eligible the child must be under 15 years of age with a diagnosis of Autism that was provided before 13 years of age.
